this last week i have been holding my boys a little longer, staring at their faces while they're sleeping and telling them i love you a few more times everyday when they're awake.  i've been savoring the special moments and the ordinary ones too.  it's been a reflective week despite it being a very busy one indeed.  we celebrated ezra's sixth birthday ten days early on the day indy turned 10 months old.  his birthday is on the 28th, just three days after christmas and two days before the big move.  this was the first year we did it that way, having always celebrated his birthday on the actual day in the past, and i think a new tradition has begun.  it was wonderful to gather with friends with the festive decorations for christmas making the house cheery and bright and putting it all together before the last dash of the holiday rush sets in was brilliant.  ezra invited his friends we have met here through our homeschool group.  they decorated cookies, (except for ezra who spent the morning before the party decorating a gingerbread house), played with star wars toys and cars and whatever was left from the first move of thirty boxes - probably half of which were filled with toys. we called michael on face time (we are loving our new iphones!) before we sang ezra happy birthday.  he got to see him blow out his candle and made it home for the last hour of the party.  this week more than others i've been thinking of how grateful i am to be home with my boys cherishing the time we have together while we have it.
