yarn along
i've been working on the fair isle cardi for my little friend stella and this cute shrug as well. the yarns are different but look like they belong together in this picture. i took this picture weeks ago but am still working on these projects. i finished the book "ruins of california" by martha sherrill. when i got my new library card (hip hip hooray!) i just found this book by its title. missing my home state, i decided this would give me a piece of home and it really did. sherrill grew up in california and did a great job of describing the valley, pasadena, and san francisco areas the book takes place in. the characters were interesting and the story was engaging. i couldn't put it down and finished it within a week. i highly recommend this book to my california friends and family. i am now reading "the buddha from brooklyn" by the same author and am hoping to read the rest of her works that they have in the miami-dade public library system.

Such a colorful project. Sorry you're a bit homesick for California. I know how that feels.
ReplyDeleteYour knitting is always fantastic. I especially love this-the colours and the stripes. xo
ReplyDeletegorgeous work mama, that does it, i'm looking for a fair isle pattern too. have you read any t.c.boyles books? he's from here (montecito) and his last book is about m and the channel islands. it was really good.

What beautiful colors! Lovely knitting. (And thanks for the tip about the Knitting for Baby book--just put it on hold at the library.)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, Anushka. When I first looked at the photo, I thought is was just the one sweater. Glad you are finding a little piece of home in Florida.
ReplyDeletei think i'd have to read that book just based upon the cover - love it!
ReplyDeleteCool! Beautiful knitting and sounds like a nice book. I might read it. Although I'm not Californian by birth, we did spend 1.5 unforgettable years in Monterey. I miss the street that smelled like Eucalyptus.
ReplyDeleteThat sweater is darling!
ReplyDeleteOh, pretty! I love all the orange.
