yarn along

still working on the fair isle smock for stella - updated ravelry notes here.  it's been so hot here that the knitting is going slow.  i've also found myself feeling better and spending less time on the couch, catching up on other things like house cleaning, organizing, and preparing meals from scratch in the kitchen once again.  i've started a few books in the last few weeks but didn't like them well enough to keep going.  yesterday i picked up isabel allende's "island beneath the sea" from the library. i hope it is good, because when allende's books hold my interest, i can't put them down.  i am a big fan of her work.  i hope to finish this smock soon as well as another little shrug for the same little girl so i can begin working on some little knits for my baby.  i have some delicious yarn from my dad and theresa to make the sweetest little papoose for the new baby.  i love how fast baby knits go, the utter adorableness of the tiny garments, and of course imagining the little being who will one day wear them.  to see more of what people are knitting and reading, go to ginny's yarn along.

  1. Allende can paint the most amazing, memorable stories with her words, can't she?

About the question: I have a link for you from which I crocheted my garland:

But if you use granny bunting to search, you can find more examples.

The cardie looks so gorgeous, I love that orange yarn and the fair isle - I'm not brave enough for that sort of thing, yet.

  8. Congratulations on your new baby!! Those first few weeks are so hard, aren't they? Ugh, I can call that constant feeling of nausea up so easily. What fun to knit a little papoose. I have one of those in my mind myself for our next (in the future) little one.
