special visitors

two sundays ago some very special friends came to visit us.  they came from colorado, flew into san diego, rented an r.v. and on their drive up to san francisco made a stop to see us.  they spent two nights at our house and one full day and it was a whirlwind of fun.

sarah and i have been friends since middle school.  i can still remember meeting her in mrs. firestone's english class.  she sat near me and we started passing notes and instantly became friends.  she's never changed and is one of those friends that you feel no time lapse between visits no matter how long it's been. we always pick up right where we left off.

it was the same for our two eldest kids, who had met three years ago before we moved to st. maarten, when ezra was only two and stella just a baby.  this time, while we were hugging and greeting each other after three years of not seeing one another, the kids headed over to ezra's room without any formal reintroduction from us and played until dinner.

they played for hours the next day at the playground, digging and making a volcano while sarah and i sat on a blanket with the babies and talked about raising babies and kids...

later we took a ride in the r.v. (don't worry the kids didn't ride in the storage compartment) to take a walk and bike ride with the whole gang - except michael, who was gone most of the time they were there doing a 30 hour shift at the hospital.

at home indy and cameron laid together on blankets.

i think only cameron was really certain there was another baby there being a few months older than indy.  when indy heard cameron cry though he would stop nursing and become wide eyed.  he heard him, but i'm not sure he really saw him.

rocky did a lot of double baby entertaining without michael there.  he always lent a hand when we needed it and i was so grateful for his helpfulness.  rocky not only helps with the babies, but he helps in the kitchen too.  they were the easiest house guests ever and i just wish they'd stayed longer.

we are so glad they came to see us and look forward to the next get together!
