"i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike!
i want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride it where i like!"
if you didn't already know - those are the lyrics to queen's song 'bicycle race' that i have been known to sing sometimes when we get on our bikes to go for a ride. we have our newest rider and he loves it just as much as ezra once did. however, the bean is super cool riding his pedal bike now and just said this week, "i love riding this bike," (said in a cute five year old big boy voice). he learned to ride his pedal bike in about an hour on christmas day last year when he got it. but, he has still preferred his balance bike up until a couple of months ago when michael had some time to help him practice in the evenings after work. thank you daddy. and now that the weather has cooled off we are all out cruising the neighborhood! the first pictures are from our first ride with indy ever in the wee ride - the best baby bike seat ever! ezra rode in the wee ride up until he was four years old in miami (thanks to his skinny legs and light weight). that's how we got to music class and soccer practice. soon enough, ezra, indy and i will be riding bikes to get to the library and the marketplace nearby. this last week has been a bit of a test run. we all rode along a busy rode out of the hood once this week and ezra was very good about listening, waiting, and looking. still, i must say i'm a bit nervous about riding alongside cars that can go 55 mph. on second thought. we may not be riding bikes to the library after all. i'm a bit of a nervous nelly since becoming a mother. it was a fun ride though with michael along for extra security. ezra said, "the wind is tickling my nose" reminding me of his thoughts on the wind the same time last year living in key biscayne inspiring this post. ezra doesn't say things out of the blue that often, but when he does they can be such poetic child centered thoughts. to me anyways. i didn't think this post would inspire so much reminiscing, but it was fun to look back on some fun times reminding me why it's so important to keep up the blogspace. next year i'll look back on this post and smile too! another big thanks to michael for fixing my camera! amazing guy that he is, he took apart the camera one night and found a faulty connection that he was able to fix. be prepared for more pictures and blog posts to come!

That wee ride seat is so sooo cool. I have never seen one like that before. It's going on my wish list. I am more afraid of other cars too, esp. since I had a childhood friend who got pulled under a truck when she was 12 while riding bikes. I worry for my children. But I would like to take them on bike trails. I think riding bikes is so wonderful and relaxing and a great way to get exercise.

What a great seat - I can imagine it gives so much more participation then being a back seat passenger.
ReplyDeleteHappy bicycle riding - what a fabulous chap you have there.

ReplyDeleteKaya has inherited my nephew's balance bike this summer and is whizzing about. He is already planning for bike rides once the baby is big enough to sit in his old seat on my bike. :)
