fourth of july

our neighbor from across the street lighting one of the first fireworks of the evening 

ezra jumped up and down most of the time.  he was ecstatic!

 

michael looks like a magician here 

it was a great celebration here in our neighborhood with a tasty barbecue at our friend and next door neighbor's house followed by a pyrotechnics display done by michael and the family across the street.  michael declared it is more fun to set off your own fireworks than to watch a big show.  but, we had the best of both with our own street fireworks party and a big show done at one of the local country clubs behind our house.  ezra was jumping up and down the whole time saying, "look at this one!  are you ready for this one guys?!"  and he wasn't referring to the big ones behind the house.  he was talking about the ones he and michael bought earlier that day at the fireworks stand.  it was awesome father - son bonding in action.  at first my mom and i and our friend and neighbor patty rotated to check on indy sleeping in the house, but the booms, pops, and cracks, didn't stir our little sleepy one a bit.  we had a full day meeting with new friends at a playground downtown and the party next door - indy even put his feet in the pool - he was fast asleep by 6:30.  ezra stayed up late but was carried to bed.  michael and i both looked at each other, hearts full, and agreed it was one of the best 4ths ever!  happy birthday america!  you are a great reason to celebrate!
