san francisco

we went into the city a few times while we were visiting up north.  the first time was our trip to the academy of sciences with my dad and the children, and then i ventured once on my own with the boys to see their uncle christopher (auntie annie was out of town) and once with just indy to have breakfast at a cozy place with a dear friend from childhood.  each time the temperatures were about 20 degrees cooler than in menlo park and i thought it was wonderful to cool off and feel the crispness in the air before we would have to return to the hot valley of central california.  we had a delicious lunch with christopher at a neighborhood restaurant, followed by jumping at the house of air in the presidio.  i wanted to see the golden gate bridge while i was here and although it was covered in fog i was still struck by its majestic presence and felt like i was in another world.  san francisco has a special place in my heart with family and friends living there and also as a magical place where michael and i began our journey as a couple 18 years ago in mill valley.  it's this year that we've been together half of my living years!  amazing.
