i finished the boys' griffin vests in the rainbow yarn ezra chose. ravelry notes here and here. we both love rainbows, ezra and i. i've been in love with rainbows for as long as i can remember. ezra has been making rainbows since he was three years old. whenever he chooses a yarn for himself, it's rainbow. the other week ezra wrote a story he called the rainbow tree. we made a calendar for november to count down the days until we had our thanksgiving celebration with my dad and family who came to visit - yay! and the trees he made inspired him to write a story. he tells it and i write it - all in his own words. here it is:
The Rainbow Tree
by Ezra
A long, long time ago, it was a rainy day because it was a rainy place. After that one day, this green tree accidentally grew in the wrong place and it destroyed everything because it made the sun come out and the rain go away. The children got all hot and had to go in the pool everyday to stay cool. Then a rainbow tree grew in the right place. It made it all rainy again and the kids were like, YaY! but they had to get out of the pool before it got freezing. They were fast enough. The rainbow tree had to hold onto his brain (he has a brain in his tummy and in his head) to make it rain again. The green tree was so angry he tried to make it sunny again but he couldn't so he cried a little. He went into his hole because then he was being so angry. Then the rainbow tree forgot and realized that when the sun comes out, a rainbow can come out. He thought about the rainbows putting the rain out and he stopped holding his brain. Then the green tree realized that rain and sun makes him grow. The colorful tree doesn't need sun. He grows in a cooler place. So the green tree and the colorful tree become friends and they make a house where it is sunny and rainy.
