halloween

our little astronaut was very excited to go trick or treating!  you can see the raindrops on the back windshield.  there was a lot of worry over a rainy halloween night but fortunately the greatest part of the storm passed the night before and it showered a few hours before the time came to leave for tricks or treats!

can you see the excitement?  i love his happy stride!  look at those arms swinging!

we met princess sophia.  ezra was a most gallant friend assuring her things weren't as scary as they seemed.

this was one of the many decorated houses on the key.  it was massively crowded - too much for my taste.  several houses were already out of candy before it was completely dark outside.  i guess you should start here at 5:30 not 6:30.  but, if we were to be here next year for trick or treating i would look for a less frequented street.  there were throngs of people here.

it was super special to have stephie and riki from germany with us for halloween!
and sophia's uncle from hungary was visiting too (although that's her pirate daddy in the picture).
it was fun to have a nice group of us together amongst the crowd.

ezra and sophia were such sweet trick or treaters with ezra singing a trick or treat song at every house and both of them always saying thank you.  do any kids over 5 say thank you anymore?

our favorite little princess!

we were all still smiling in these last photographs, but i must say by the end it was like a little kid's meltdown at their birthday party when there's too much stimulation and the birthday child is crying!  we had not tears in our group, but ezra was HOT and would not let us take off his helmet or unzip his suit or let either of us help carry his bag for that matter!  he wanted to be first and marched as fast as he could ahead of everyone.  at the last few houses we trick or treated at, i started telling the other kids to stop pushing in front of our little ones and scoffed about their rude behavior.  at one point ezra yelled at a mom who wouldn't move out of his way, "i'm just trying to get to my daddy!"  nevertheless, it was a fun and memorable evening and probably a good thing that we only came home with a few handfuls of candy.  in fact it's all gone already.  ezra said it was an awesome halloween and that's all that matters!

  1. That looks so much fun. Ezra, you rock! You look super cool :) There is just nothing happening for halloween here. I can understand how overwhelming the whole experience was too. The little ones get so tired and over excited. Can I just say - you are sooooo tall! x

  2. Best costume I have see this year!!! So glad you all had so much fun! We had just as much fun handing out candy as we did trick or treating! We were done by 7 but the doorbell kept ringing till 9! And yes, the kids still do say thank you--we had lots of middle schoolers and early teens and I will say about 98% said thank you. That was nice :).

  3. Ha.... Halloween stuff is already packed up and out of sight! It was fun, for a little while, but way too much for the little ones, or maybe me. Now both boys have bad colds from the late nights, parties, and excitement. We have way too much candy, hidden away from boys but not ME!!!

I left our bowl of candy out so I could go with the boys and someone stole the WHOLE BOWL! Not cool! I am actually pissed! Ungrateful little beasts!

Ezra's costume is super cute!! Love that he was excited and singing! Love the pictures, as always!
