knitting and reading...

 a milo for ezra

a lacy scarf for a friend

and another puerperium for baby...

reading kate morton's debut novel "the house at riverton."  i've been reading her three books from most recently to first written and i am excited about this one because it has received the most acclaim.  all of her stories have similarities to them, involving wealthy english families living in large estates, a mysterious death, and best of all fascinating characters.  her writing style is so lovely i sometimes just read a sentence over again because it was so well written.  i've enjoyed each one as well as the other and am sure i'll be able to finish this one before we move and i have to return it to the library.
i've got a few projects going at once on the knitting front and hope to finish them all very soon.  i think ezra will love to wear the vest in california where it's been in the 50s during the daytime!  it's still in the 80s here at night time so i think we're going to enjoy wearing an extra layer or two.  the scarf i am planning to finish today to bring over for the hostess of our thanksgiving celebration tomorrow.  we are celebrating with nicola, tom, and sophia at their home.  we are so grateful for them and all find it a perfect way to end our stay together on key biscayne with a celebratory feast.  i hope you all have a warm and loving thanksgiving tomorrow and have much to be grateful for.

  4. Have I told you I'm so envious of your knitting skills? It's something I'd love to pick up once my kids are older. And by the way, since I've never answered either of your questions about living in Michigan or Salt Lake I will now:) I think you would think Michigan was pretty, it's so lush and covered in trees, BUT if you are not a winter person you might just hate it! It's 35 right now, and will be this temp at the warmest from now until April!! It can get a little depressing. Salt Lake is equally as pretty, but in a different way. I would say there is a lot more to do outside in Salt Lake, with the mountains. Great hiking, water sports, bike trails... but then you have the winter again, with LOTS of snow. It's not as cold as Michigan, and the winter is sunnier, but still cold and snowy. I bet you and your husband (as well as Ezra) would enjoy skiing and snow shoeing though? If you had a chance to do any rotations in Salt Lake I would take them. I think you would LOVE the all the natural beauty there, as well as the community. There's my two cents:) Happy Thanksgiving!
