joining ginny's yarn along this week.
i finished ezra's lyalya hoodie and love the results. he enjoyed modeling it for me, michael, my brother, nicola and sophia. but, after wearing it for 5 minutes each modeling session it came off his head and the yarn was pronounced too fuzzy. i hope he'll enjoy wearing it on early mornings or evenings in california this winter. maybe we'll be lucky enough to take a trip to the snow. he's ordered another one in less fuzzy yarn. and i have just the stuff sent from my friend lori. some delicious debbie bliss cashmerino and cotton denim aran. thank you lori! my yarn stash is dwindling fast and i'm working on convincing my husband just how much ezra wants that hand knit adorable spud and chloe lucky number pullover for his fifth birthday. : ) he really does. ezra is always appreciative of things made for him and i hope that never stops because i know i won't ever stop knitting. just saw this pixie dust lap blanket today on purl bee - did you? if you read through the comments, they suggest using cascade magnum for a more affordable blanket. ezra wants one in blue. hmm, i guess i need to add that to the christmas list. for now i am almost finished with the pom pom papoose for baby. i finished reading kate morton's "the distant hours" and loved it to the very last page. the ending was fabulous - a great mystery solved that i didn't figure out on my own. i have her other books on reserve through the library system and hope they come before we move. until then, i'll start "room" which was suggested to me by andrea.
eeek - Room - will await your opinion with bated breath (and won't bias you with mine until you're finished!)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that rainbow hood - that's another for my "to-do" list!!!
Such an adorable hat and so colorful. I hope he does wear it in the California weather. That lap blanket is huge! I'm sure it knits up very fast.
ReplyDeleteMy boy doesn't like "too fuzzy" either. Have you thought of lining it with all cotton jersey? It would be very soft and would stretch with the hat. I'm going to all your links to get some knitting inspiration right now, Anushka! love, Beth
ReplyDeleteLucky Ezra, how fab is that! Great links. I love that stripy jumper. I wish I could knit something like this. How great is Lori? Thank you for introducing us...when shall we get that coffee together? I hope you like the book, though I'm not sure you'll read it all knowing you :) xx
ReplyDeleteoh anushka, i love the hat! ezra looks so adorable and yes he will love it when he's in the cold (and you know it does get cold here). i've made two for chuck and he loves them, he's put them to good use.
ReplyDeleteand oh that blanket, i did see it, on the website and in the shop in soho. i wanted it too until i did the math, it comes out to something like 300.00, yipes!
i'm going to the library today, i really have to read that book now!
