our day with the day family

on saturday we went to malibou lake to visit some of my oldest and dearest friends - the day family.  adrianna and i have been friends since fourth grade and she, her sister, mother and i (as well as our husbands and children) all enjoy each others' company and enjoy having big get togethers.  i always feel like i am one of the family and every time we see each other it is a pretty big love fest.  how wonderful it is to have friends like these.

ezra was the first kid to arrive and started busily playing
in the play room with the marvelous track system.

adrianna and adam are one of my favorite couples.  they are like a living aphrodisiac always kissing and loving on one another openly sharing their kismet with the world.

this is their gorgeous greyhound enid who they rescued from the track whilst we were living in st. maarten.  it was a wonderful pleasure to meet this gorgeous girl.

connor gave ezra a tour of poppa's garden.  they went to look for strawberries together.

connor decided not to eat any strawberries but tried a leaf of mint instead.
he said it tasted kind of like gum.

poppa explained to the boys that you know the corn is ready to harvest
when it's as high as an elephant's eye.  i love the boy's thoughtful expressions here.

brody went back to the strawberries with ezra and told him
he could eat the one he picked if he took the green part off first.

then the boys took ezra to their secret hiding places.
i will show them to you now, but you mustn't tell anyone about them!

i smiled as we climbed up these familiar stairs

to the observatory i climbed up to with adie when we were girls.

as teenagers we would sit on the planks on the roof.
the boys looked out at them.  i winced at the thought of them going out there.
connor said, "it looks like fun, but it really isn't."  phew...

off to the next secret hiding space!

a loft above the play room.
you can see audrey in the background
where she was talking to her daddy down below.

connor, ezra and i went back to the observatory to wave to brody in the loft.
that was such a great idea connor had and so like him to suggest
- this clever, oldest boy of the crew.

i love lanky enid laying on the shaggy rug.

carol, the loving hostess and matriarch, is holding up a mother's day card from her grandchildren.
can you spot ezra peeking down from up above the moon manor sign in the play room?

we had such a nice time catching up with our friends.
it's so nice to know that you can pick up where you left off with lifelong friends like these.
