friends at the ranch

 ezra was so excited to tell kristen that our friends were at the ranch last saturday.

 this is my friend jen holding her sweet horse loving daughter jayden.  it was so nice to see these two after not having seen them since before our move to the island when jayden was still a baby and ezra was 2 years old - the same age as jayden now.

 first jayden wanted to get on eli, then ezra did.  but, only jayden wanted to stay on for a walk around the backyard.  maybe it was because ezra wasn't in front or because of the boo boo on his left knee.  he wore a wash cloth wrapped in pink horse bandage for a couple of days after falling off his bike and scraping his knee.  

 yesterday we went out back behind the fence 

to watch the horses graze and ezra played in the sand.  

 my friend lena came over to hang out. 

we watched the animals graze and got caught up on life 

 while ezra made tracks in the mud.  

 this is belle.  she was the first clydesdale my husband's family rescued from a dismal life.  now she gets to eat grass everyday in the field and has had her own foal, jackson, to watch grow up beside her.

jackson was the first horse to be brought in from the field and watched over the fence as the rest were rounded up to come home.  it was funny to have this giant horse peeking over the fence behind us.  i think he missed his mommy.
